DHCPv6 is a network protocol used to configure IPv6 hosts with IPv6 addresses and IPv6
prefixes for an IPv6 network. DHCPv6 is used instead of SLAAC (Stateless Address
Autoconfiguration) at sites where centralized management of IPv6 hosts is needed. IPv6
routers require automatic configuration of IPv6 addresses and IPv6 prefixes.
