2. Starting Up the RMC
2.1. RMC Startup Procedure
The best resource to start using the RMC is the Startup Guide that was shipped with the
controller. The Startup Guide can also be downloaded from Delta's website at
If you do not have a Startup Guide, the following step-by-step procedure will help you get
your system up and running.
TIP:
Deltas position/pressure simulators provide a simple way to test your program before
connecting the controller to a real system.
1. Provide Power to the RMC
a. Before providing power to the RMC for the first time, disconnect all other wiring
from the module.
b. If you have an RMC70, make sure to install any expansion modules before
applying power.
c. Connect the power supply common to the PS Return or 24V Cmn pin on the RMC
power connector module. The power supply should be rated for 500 mA.
d. Connnect +24 volts to the +24 Vdc PS pin.
e. For specifics on wiring, see the wiring topic. For details on the RMC power
requirements, see the RMC70 Modules Overview or RMC150 Overview topic.
2. Connect to Controller in RMCTools
a. If you have an RMC75E or RMC150E:
Connect a USB cable from the PC to the USB Monitor port on the RMC.
If you have an RMC75S or RMC75P:
Connect a null-modem cable from the PC to the RS-232 Monitor port on the RMC. See the
Monitor Port topic for cable details.
b. Open RMCTools.
c. On the File menu, click New Project. In the New Project Wizard, fill in the
fields and click Finish.
d. In the New Controller Wizard, type a Controller Name and choose
Automatically Detect the Controller Information.
e. Click Next.
f. If you have an RMC75E or RMC150E:
Choose USB and click OK. Choose the desired RMC and click Next.
If you have an RMC75S or RMC75P:
Choose the COM port that the RMC is connected to.
