Link Layer Discovery Protocol for Media Endpoint Discovery (LLDP-MED) is an
enhancement to LLDP with support for the following features:
• Auto-discovery of LAN policies (such as VLAN, Layer 2 priority, and DiffServ settings),
which allows for plug-and-play networking.
• Device location discovery, which allows for the creation of location databases.
• Extended and automated power management of Power over Ethernet endpoints.
• Inventory management, which lets you track your network devices and determine
their characteristics, such as manufacturer, software and hardware versions, and
serial or asset numbers.
Configure the global LLDP-MED settings
You can specify LLDP-MED settings that are globally applied to the switch.
