DHCP relay and relay statistics
If the switch is functioning as a Layer 3 device, you can enable the Layer 3 DHCP relay
agent and let the switch relay DHCP messages between DHCP clients and DHCP servers
that are located in a different IP subnet.
To configure a DHCP relay and display relay statistics:
1. Launch a web browser.
2. In the address field of your web browser, enter the IP address of the switch.
The login page displays.
3. Click the Main UI Login button.
The main UI login page displays in a new tab.
4. Enter admin as the user name, enter your local device password, and click the Login
button.
The first time that you log in, no password is required. However, you then must
specify a local device password to use each subsequent time that you log in.
The System Information page displays.
5. Select System > Services > DHCP Relay.
The DHCP Relay page display.
6. in the Maximum Hop Count field, enter the maximum number of hops a client
request can take before being discarded.
The range is from 1 to 16. The default is 4.
7. Select the Admin mode Disable or Enable radio button to disable or enable the
DHCP relay on the switch.
8. In the Minimum Wait Time field, enter the minimum time in seconds that the DHCP
relay must wait before forwarding requests.
The time is compared to the time stamp in the client's DHCP request packets, which
represents the time since the client was powered up. Packets are forwarded only
when the time stamp exceeds the minimum wait time. The range is from 0 to 100.
9. Select one of the following Circuit ID Option Mode radio buttons:
• Enable: Relay agent options are added to requests before they are forwarded to
the server and removed from replies before they are forwarded to clients.
• Disable: R relay agent options are not added to requests before they are
forwarded to the server and not removed from replies before they are forwarded
to clients.
