Sets the desired distance attribute for a Fibre Channel port used in the Dynamic (LD) or Static
Long-Distance (LS) modes.
Synopsis
desire-distance distance
no desire-distance
Operands
distance
The length (in km) of the desired link.
Defaults
The default is 0.
Command Modes
Interface Fibre Channel configuration mode
Description
For a Fibre Channel link configured with Static Long Distance (LS) mode, use this command to set
the length of the desired long distance. The calculation of buffer-to-buffer credits is based on this
length.
For a long distance Fibre Channel link configured with Dynamic mode (LD), use this command to
set the maximum length to be used in calculating buffer-to-buffer credits. In this mode, the smaller
of the distance measured during port initialization and the desired distance is used in the
calculation.
Usage Guidelines
This command can be used only on Network OS platforms with Fibre Channel ports
(Brocade VDX 6730-32 and Brocade VDX 6730-76 switches), in Brocade VCS Fabric mode, and
with the FCoE license installed.
Use the no form of this command to disable it.
Examples
To set the desired distance Fibre Channel port attribute:
switch(config)# interface FibreChannel 7/0/2
switch(config-FibreChannel-7/0/2)# long-distance ls
switch(config-FibreChannel-7/0/2)# desire-distance 100
