• Filename field: Share automatically enters a filename in this field for the output media
file. The first part of the filename is based on the Final Cut Pro Browser clip or sequence
name. (In the case of multiple sources, this part of the filename will be [Source].) Share
also automatically appends an output type identifier (such as “iPod” or “YouTube”) at
the end of the filename. In most cases, you can manually edit any portion of the filename
by double-clicking it.
• Output type identifier: Share automatically appends an output type identifier (such as
“iPod” or “YouTube”) at the end of each filename. You can manually edit any output
type identifier by double-clicking it.
• Action checkbox: Select this checkbox to activate any post-transcoding actions (beyond
simply creating the output media file). For more information, see
• Add Output and Remove Output buttons: Click Add Output to create additional outputs.
To remove a particular output, click its Remove Output button.
• Show Info button: Click this button to display extensive details about the current setting
and the output media file. If you are exporting a group of clips or sequences and you
have selected “Export as separate sources” in the Multiple Sources dialog, you can click
this button to view information about each individual output media file.
• Cluster pop-up menu: Use the Cluster pop-up menu to choose which computer or
cluster will process the batch. The default Cluster setting is This Computer, which means
Share will not involve any other computers in completing the batch. You can choose
from any other available clusters that appear in this list. See
Distributed Processing Setup Guide, available in Compressor Help or Apple Qmaster Help,
for more details on setting up an Apple Qmaster distributed processing network.
• Send to Compressor button: Click Send to Compressor to open a batch in the Compressor
application based on all the current Share window outputs (and their applied settings).
This allows you to use the advanced transcoding features in Compressor to complete
the export session. For information about using Compressor, see the Compressor
User Manual, available in Compressor Help.
• Export button: Once you have created all the outputs you want in the Share window
and are satisfied with the settings and details of your intended output media files, you
are ready to export. You do this by clicking the Export button.
Post-Transcoding Actions
For many of the output types, additional settings are available to control actions taken
once the output media is created. The actions include uploading the clip to your YouTube
account, posting it on your MobileMe page, burning a DVD, and other similar actions,
each specific to the selected output type.
