Configuration example 2: Distance sensor "DME5000-117" by SICK
Data
from DME5000 operating instructions (8009813/US35/2012-07-02):
• Maximum distance: 70 m
• Default setting of parameter "Period Length": 1 mm
(4 zero crossings while passing one period * 0.25 mm = 1 mm)
• Default setting of parameter "Resolution": 125 μm (must not be changed)
These default settings result in the following resolutions:
• 1 "encoder revolution" = 10 mm
• Hiperface resolution: 1/32 mm 320 digits per "revolution" x 7000 "revolutions"
• Sin/cos resolution: 10 increments per "revolution"
(1 period ≡ 1 mm 10 mm ≡ one "revolution" = 10 periods or increments)
• 1 [unit] = 1 mm
Scaling of the position value
In order to scale the evaluation of the SinCos track, the traverse path in [units] has to be entered in
which is covered in order to pass through once the SinCos increment of the encoder

The absolute Hiperface track is scaled by the setting of the "steps per revolution" in
