Chapter 9

Using the Replicator

The following options are available in the Shape pop-up menu:

Line: Elements are positioned on a line. Using the onscreen controls (with the Adjust

Item tool) or the Inspector, you can specify the length and location of the line. In the
Inspector, you can set a specific number of points on the line—one element is
positioned at every point (including the end points of the line). The Line shape
displays additional Start Point, End Point, Points, and Offset parameters.

Rectangle: Elements are positioned in a rectangle along the replicator outline, or in

a tile or random fill pattern. Using the onscreen controls (with the Adjust Item tool),
you can specify the size and location of the rectangle. Drag the corners to adjust
width and height; drag edges to adjust width or height independently. When
Rectangle is selected, the Arrangement parameter becomes available. Depending on
the selected Arrangement, the Rectangle shape displays additional parameters.

Use the following modifier keys to more precisely manipulate the corners of the
Rectangle onscreen controls:

Option: Adjustments to size are scaled uniformly, with the anchor point remaining

fixed.

Shift: Adjustments to size are made proportionally.
