Fast sampling
In fast sampling, there is only one sampling client. You need to move the sampling client to different
locations to create several sampling points. Only one sampling point can be sampled at a time.
To perform fast sampling:
1.
Click the Service tab.
2.
From the navigation tree, select WLAN Manager > View Management > Location Views.
The Location List page appears.
3.
Click the View Topology icon for the location view.
The location view topology page appears, displaying all sub-location views, fit APs, and fat
APs.
4.
Right-click on a blank area, and, from the shortcut menu, select Sampling Points Mgt.
You are in client sampling mode.
5.
Right-click on a blank area, and, from the shortcut menu, select Fast Sampling.
6.
In the Select MAC dialog box that appears, select a MAC address. The MAC addresses of the
clients that are configured as the sampling clients are listed here.
7.
Click OK.
The cursor changes from to . You are in fast sampling mode.
8.
Click the actual location for the sampling client in the topology to add a sampling point and
start sampling.
The color of the dot indicates the state of the sampling point as follows:
{
—Not sampled.
{
—Being sampled.
{
—Successfully sampled.
9.
Move the sampling client, and repeat step 8 to sample more sampling points.
10.
Double-click to quit fast sampling.
Moving sampling
In moving sampling, there is only one sampling client. To implement moving sampling, you must
determine a start point in the topology, move the sampling client to the destination, and determine the
end point in the topology. APs along the sampling route continuously collect statistics of the sampling
client. Then, WSM calculates the location and signal strength of each sampling point based on the
collected statistics.
Moving sampling can sample one sampling route at a time. The sampling route must be a straight
line.
To perform moving sampling:
1.
Click the Service tab.
2.
From the navigation tree, select WLAN Manager > View Management > Location Views.
The Location List page appears.
3.
Click the View Topology icon for the location view.
