line This command identifies a specific line for configuration, and to process
subsequent line configuration commands.
S YNTAX
line {console | vty}
console - Console terminal line.
vty - Virtual terminal for remote console access (i.e., Telnet).
D EFAULT S ETTING
There is no default line.

Telnet is considered a virtual terminal connection and will be shown as
“VTY” in screen displays such as show users . However, the serial
communication parameters (e.g., databits) do not affect Telnet
connections.
E XAMPLE
To enter console line mode, enter the following command:

password-thresh Sets the password intrusion threshold, which limits the
number of failed logon attempts

silent-time * Sets the amount of time the management console is
inaccessible after the number of unsuccessful logon
attempts exceeds the threshold set by the password-
thresh command

stopbits * Sets the number of the stop bits transmitted per byte LC
timeout login response Sets the interval that the system waits for a login
attempt
