Table 1 Local user configuration items
Item
Description
User Name
Enter a username which is case sensitive, with “/”, “\”, “:”, “|”, “*”, “?”, “<”,
“>”, “@” and “"”excluded.
IMPORTANT:
When you create a local user, there can be spaces in the username, but there
cannot be spaces before and after the username. If there are spaces before
and after the username, they will be omitted; if you type a username with all
spaces, your input is taken as an empty input.
User Privilege Level
Set the user privilege level of a user.
User privilege levels, ranging from low to high, are visitor, monitor,
configure, and management. A user with a higher level has all the
operating rights of a user with a lower level.
•
Visitor: Users of this level can neither access the device data nor configure the
device.
•
Monitor: Users of this level can only access the device data but cannot
configure the device.
•
Configure: Users of this level can access data from the device and configure
the device, but they cannot upgrade the host software, add/delete/modify
users, or back up/restore the application file.
•
Management: Users of this level can perform any operations for the device.
IMPORTANT:
Only FTP, Telnet and SSH users support user privilege level configuration.
Service Type
Set the service type that a user can use, including FTP, SSH, Telnet, Terminal and
PPP.
IMPORTANT:
A user can log in to the device through the Web interface only if the service
type that he can use include Telnet.
Password
Set the password
Confirm Password
Reset the password, which must be the same with the previously set password.

Network requirements
In the networking environment shown in
, configure Device to enable user Emily to log in to
Device from GigabitEthernet 0/1 through the Web interface, and view the data on Device; however,
the user cannot perform any configurations for Device.
