Adding Static Unicast and Multicast MAC Addresses

This section contains the procedure for assigning a static unicast or
multicast address to ports on the switch. You can assign up to 255 static
MAC addresses per port.

Note

When you add a static multicast address you must assign the
address to all ports on the switch that belong to the multicast group.
This includes the ports connected to the multicast application
server and the host nodes. Failure to assign the address to all ports
in the group prevents the multicast packets from reaching all
appropriate nodes.

To add a static unicast or multicast address to the MAC address table,
perform the following procedure:

1. From the Home Page, select Configuration.

The Configuration System Page is displayed with the General Tab
selected by default, as shown in Figure 192 on page 584.

2. From the Configuration menu, select the Layer 2 option.

The Layer 2 Page is displayed with the MAC Address Tab selected
by default, as shown in Figure 212 on page 634.

3. Click Add.

The Add MAC Address Page is shown in Figure 214.

4. In the MAC Address field, enter the new static unicast or multicast
