General Commands

Command Usage

This command resets the entire system.

Any combination of reload options may be specified. If the same option is re-specified, the
previous setting will be overwritten.

When the system is restarted, it will always run the Power-On Self-Test. It will also retain all
configuration information stored in non-volatile memory by the

copy

running-config

startup-config

command (See

“copy”

on page 67).

Example
This example shows how to reset the switch after 30 minutes:

Console(config)#reload in minute 30

enable

This command activates Privileged Exec mode. In privileged mode, additional commands are
available, and certain commands display additional information. See

“Understanding Command

Modes”

on page 32.

Syntax

enable [level]

level - Privilege level to log into the device.

The device has two predefined privilege levels: 0: Normal Exec, 15: Privileged Exec. Enter
level 15 to access Privileged Exec mode.

Default Setting
Level 15

Command Mode
Normal Exec

Command Usage

“super” is the default password required to change the command mode from Normal Exec to
Privileged Exec. (To set this password, see the

enable password

command.)

The “#” character is appended to the end of the prompt to indicate that the system is in
privileged access mode.
