Domain Name Service Commands
ip host
This command creates a static entry in the DNS table that maps a host name to an IPv4 address.
Use the no form to remove an entry.
Syntax
[no] ip host name address
name - Name of an IPv4 host. (Range: 1-100 characters)
address - Corresponding IPv4 address.
Default Setting
No static entries

Use the
no
ip host
command to clear static entries, or the
command to clear dynamic
entries.
Example
This example maps an IPv4 address to a host name.
Console(config)#ip host rd5 192.168.1.55

ip name-server
This command specifies the address of one or more domain name servers to use for
name-to-address resolution. Use the no form to remove a name server from this list.
Syntax
[no] ip name-server server-address1 [server-address2 … server-address6]
server-address1 - IPv4 or IPv6 address of domain-name server.
server-address2 … server-address6 - IPv4 or IPv6 address of additional domain-name
servers.
