Appendix C - Xstudio properties
Formatting numbers
The following table contains symbols that you can use to format numbers.
Time - AM/PM
Displays the hour, minutes, and AM/PM
(hh:mm:AM/PM).
Defaults to AM if no time of day is entered.
4:00 becomes 04:00 AM.
4.00 pm becomes 04:00 PM.
Time - 12 hour
Displays the hour and minutes.
4:00 becomes 04:00.
Time - 24 hour
Displays the hour and minutes according to the
twenty-four hour clock (hh:mm).
4:00 pm becomes 16:00.
Short Date
Uses the Short Date format specified by the user’s
system settings (mm/dd/yy or dd/mm/yy).
May 9 2002 becomes
(depending on your system’s
settings) 5/09/11.
Long Date
Uses the Long Date format specified by the user’s
system settings (e.g. mmmm dd, yyyy).
May 9 2002 becomes
(depending on your system’s
settings) May 9, 2011.
Celsius
Adds the Celsius symbol to the number entered.
28 becomes 28

Fahrenheit
Adds the Fahrenheit symbol to the number entered.
82 becomes 82

Digit placeholder that prints a trailing or
leading zero, if appropriate.
If you entered 000.00 in the
Format row, 14 would become
014.00.

Digit placeholder; never prints trailing or
leading zero.
If you entered ###.## in the
Format row, 14 would become 14.
in the output (the decimal after 14
will be displayed). If you entered
###.00, 14 would become 14.00.
.
Decimal placeholder.
If you entered #.00 in the Format
row, 14 would become 14.00.
,
Thousands separator.
If you entered #,### in the Format
row, 35987 would become 35,987.
- + $, ¥ () space (etc.)
Literal characters. These are displayed
exactly as entered in the Format row.
If you entered $###.00 in the
Format row, 14 would become
$14.00.
