Appendix A - Asset Browser
Removing assets from categories
An asset can exist within one or many categories in the Asset Browser as linked assets,
meaning that each instance of the asset is linked together. Therefore, saved changes to one
instance of the asset are applied to all of the same linked assets.
Using the R
EMOVE
FROM
C
ATEGORY
command, Xstudio allows you to remove an instance
of an asset from a category, without deleting it from the system. Note, however, that the
R
EMOVE
FROM
C
ATEGORY
command is only available if another instance of the asset exists
in another category. This is a safety feature to prevent you from mistakenly deleting the only
remaining instance of the asset.
If your intention is to completely remove the asset from the system, you will use the D
ELETE
command, instead of the R
EMOVE
FROM
C
ATEGORY
).
To remove an asset from a category:
1.
In the Asset Browser, right-click on the asset that is to be deleted.
A context menu appears. If the asset has other linked locations, the R
EMOVE
F
ROM
C
ATEGORY
command will be available. However, if the asset does not exist in any other
category, then the command will not be available.
2.
Select R
EMOVE
F
ROM
C
ATEGORY
from the context menu.
The C
ONFIRM
R
EMOVE
FROM
C

dialog box appears and asks you to confirm
that you want to remove the specified asset from the specified category.
3.
Click Y
ES
to remove the asset from the category, or click N
O
to cancel the operation.
Opening and editing assets using the Asset Browser
You can use the A

B
ROWSER

were created in Xstudio can be edited within the application. Those that were created in a
third-party product must be edited outside Xstudio and then re-ingested (see
