Playing out a scene using Xstudio’s Production mode
Playing out a scene associated with a template or page
Once you have finished authoring the Template+Scene project in Design mode, you can
switch to Production mode to view the template’s interface, as well as preview the scene’s
playout on an actual playout device. Similarly, when you create a new page from an existing
template, you can also use Production mode to preview the new page’s playout.
When you load the project into Production mode, the template/page appears in the N
EXT
T
O
A
IR
window. When a template is visible in the next to air window, it is not visible on the
device (see figure
). If the template/page contains any editable fields, you can use them
to make changes to the scene’s content (e.g. change text in text boxes and/or make new
selections from drop-down lists).
When you are ready to preview the scene’s playout, you can playout the scene by clicking
the T
AKE
button. Since Production mode is a true playout of the scene, you will immediately
see the scene’s playout including its currently programmed transitions, animations, and
content. To preview the scene’s exiting transition and clear the device, simply click the
C
LEAR
button.
The following instructions guide you through the exact procedure for playing out a
Template+Scene or a page in Xstudio’s Production mode.
1.
Ensure that the Template+Scene or Page project is open and currently selected in
Xstudio’s Design mode.
2.
Ensure that Xstudio is actively connected to the playout device (see

If the Template's AutoLoadScene property is set to false the scene is not automatically cued
on the device and may not appear on the playout device when the Take button is pressed. .

Use the template’s editable fields (i.e. text boxes, drop-down lists, buttons...etc.) to
make changes to the scene’s content.
6.
Click the Take button to bring the scene to air on the device.
Watch the scene’s entry transition, its content and animations.
7.
After viewing enough of the scene’s playout, click the C
LEAR
button to execute the
scene’s exit and clear the device. Watch the scene’s exit transition.
8.
Optional: To immediately preview the scene again, click the C
UE
button and repeat
steps 5 to 7 again.
