Playing out a scene using Xstudio’s Production mode
Playing out a scene controlled by a control panel
Once you have finished authoring the Panel+Scene project in Design mode, you can switch
to Production mode to view the control panel’s interface, as well as preview the scene’s
playout on an actual playout device.
When you load the project into Production mode, the control panel is automatically loaded
in Xstudio’s Production mode window and the scene is taken to air (figure
12-1 ). You can
now operate the control panel to determine the scene’s content and playout behavior, which
will be immediately reflected on the output device.

To stop the playout of the scene and clear the device, select the T ASKS >C LEAR D EVICE
menu command or press Ctrl+F4. Note that the C UE , R EFRESH , C LEAR and T AKE buttons
are not enabled when previewing a control panel and scene.
The following instructions guide you through the exact procedure for playing out a
Panel+Scene in Xstudio’s Production mode.
1.
Ensure that the Panel+Scene project is open and currently selected in Xstudio’s
Design mode.
2. Ensure that Xstudio is actively connected to the playout device (see page 2-12 ).
3. Save and publish the current project to the active output device (see page 11-2 and
page 11-3 ).
4. Switch Xstudio to Production Mode by double-clicking the D ESIGN M ODE BUTTON
or selecting the V IEW >P RODUCTION M ODE (CTRL+P).
Note that if the panel's AUTO L OAD S CENE property is false, the scene may not appear
on the playout device.
5. Use the panel’s elements (i.e. text boxes, drop-down lists, buttons...etc.) to control the
scene’s content and behavior.
6. After viewing enough of the scene’s playout, select the T ASKS >C LEAR D EVICE menu
command or press Ctrl+F4 to execute the scene’s exit and clear the device.
