Animating scene objects
Text2D properties
In addition to the
General animated object properties
, text objects have access to an
exclusive animated property: T
EXT
. The T
EXT
animated property identifies the text to be
displayed in the text object.
The text that displays in the text object can be set by selecting and typing directly in the
object, or by setting the object’s T
EXT
property (right-click on the object, select P
ROPERTIES
).
The T
EXT
animated property provides extra functionality that allows you to change or
replace the object’s displayed text with another text. For example, when a scene animation
begins the text object can be set to display “Coming up next”. Later in the animation, you
can set the T
EXT
animated property to replace the original text with “The evening news”. The
text object and all of its associated settings remain unchanged, it is only the displayed text
that changes.
To replace the text in a text object using the Text animated property:
1.
Add a text primitive to the scene’s canvas.
2.
Drag the text object’s T
EXT
animated property from the Scene Tree to the animation in
the Animation Tree.
3.
Select the Text channel’s keyframe and type the desired text in the Keyframe Editor’s
T
EXT
field.
4.
Set the length of time (frames/time) that you want the text to be active by typing a value
in the Keyframe Editor’s D
URATION
field. The keyframe adjusts its length on the timeline
to represent the new duration.
5.
Add a keyframe to the Text channel at the location where you would like the
replacement of the text to occur.
6.
Select the second keyframe and type the desired text in the Keyframe Editor’s T
EXT
field.
7.
Set the length of time (frames/time) that you want the text to be active by typing a value
in the Keyframe Editor’s D
URATION
field. The keyframe adjusts its length on the timeline
to represent the new duration.
