Moving or copying assets to different categories
The Asset Browser allows you to have easy access to an organized, central listing of
assets. You may, however, want to adjust location of the assets in your Asset Browser to a
logic that better fits your needs. It is for this reason that Xstudio allows you to move assets
within categories containing assets of the same type.
For example, figure
demonstrates that an image asset of the Police Chief that was
originally saved to the Politics category during nominations, might now be more
appropriate in the Police category. You can either move the asset to the Police category, or
create an asset link, which adds a placeholder in the Police category and leaves the original
asset in the Politics category. Note that the asset link means that the asset is linked to the
original asset, so saved changes to one will also be applied to the other.

You cannot move or copy assets from one root category to another because all of the assets
in a root category must be of the same type (i.e. images root category only contains images).
To move an asset within the root category:
1.
In the Asset Browser, navigate to and select the category where you would like to move
the asset to.
2.
Navigate to and select the asset that you would like to move.
3.
Drag the asset and drop it onto the desired category.
To copy an asset link to another category:
1.
In the Asset Browser, navigate to and select the category where you would like to copy
the asset to.
2.
Navigate to and select the asset that you would like to copy.
3.
Click and hold down the CTRL key while dragging the asset, and then drop the asset
over the root category or desired category within the root before releasing the CTRL
key. An asset link is now placed in the new location and the asset still remains in its
original location.

You can verify which categories an asset is linked to by right-clicking on the asset heading
in the Asset Browser and choosing Properties from the context menu. The P
ROPERTIES
dialog box appears and lists the location(s) of the asset in the C
ATEGORIES
field.
