Linking objects to a data source
Data entities: snapshots, tickers, multi-tickers and
classes
Snapshots, tickers, multi-tickers and classes are all data entities -- combinations of specific
data from a data source (more than one data source in the case of multi-tickers), and
instructions on how to display the data once it has been linked to an object (e.g. in ticker
format, as a snapshot value).
The dialog boxes for building a snapshot, ticker and multi-ticker all have the following two tabs:
•
B
UILDER
- Allows you to specify the data to be displayed in the snapshot, ticker or multi-
ticker without having to use a query string. The following sections explain how to use
the B
UILDER
tab when setting up data entities.
•
A
DVANCED
- For those who prefer to use a query string to the selection methods
provided on the B
UILDER
tab. The query string is entered in the space provided. The
two buttons along the bottom each display a dialog box. Click the S
HOW
XML button to
display a dialog box that shows the XML code (non-editable) being sent to the output
device.
