• Sign Method

(Positive logic, 5-V differential input)

UP count with A-pulse inputs when B-pulse inputs are low.
DOWN count with A-pulse inputs when B-pulse inputs are high.

(Negative logic, 5-V differential input)

DOWN count with A-pulse inputs when B-pulse inputs are high.
UP count with A-pulse inputs when B-pulse inputs are low.

• A/B Method

(Positive/Negative logic)

UP count when A-pulse input phase lags B pulses.
DOWN count when A-pulse input phase leads B pulses

• UP/DOWN Method

(Positive/Negative logic)

A-pulse inputs: Incrementing pulses
B-pulse inputs: Decrementing pulses
