Towing Your Vehicle

Recreational Vehicle Towing
Recreational vehide towing means towing your vahicle
behind another vehicle - such as behind a motorhome.
The iwo most common types oi recreational vehicle
towing are ftnown as "dinghy lowing'' (towing your vehicle
wilf all four wheels on Ihe ground) and “dolly lowing"
{towirtg your vehicle with two wheels on the ground and
two wheels up an a device known as a "dolly").
With the proper preparation and equipment, many
vehicles can be lowed in these ways. See

Here are same importanl things to consider before you
do recreational vehicle towing:
• What’s the lowing capacity of the towirrg vehicle?
Be sure you read Ihe low vehicle manutacturer^s
racomimondatiQns.
• How far will you tow? Some vehicles have
restrictions on how far and how long they can tow.
• Do you have the pnopar towing equipment?
See your dealer or trallering prolessional for

• Is your vehicle ready to be towed? Just as you
would prepare your vehicle for a long trip, you'll

Dinghy Towing
When lowing your vehicle, turn Ihe igniuon to LOCK
TwO’Wheef-Orit/e Vehicles
TwO‘Whgel-drjve vehicles should not be lowed with all
four wheels on the ground. Two-wheel-drive
transmissions have no provishons lor InteTnal lubrication
while being towed. To property tow these vehicles,
they should be placed on a platform trailer wilh all four
wheels off the ground.
