Shifting Out of Park (P) Parking Your Vehicle

Jt you caonol shift oui of PARK [P)^ ease pressure on
the shlf[ lever and push the shrfl lavor all
the way up fntu
PARK (P) as you mainfain brake application. Then,
move ihe shill lever into the gear you want.
If you ever hold the brake pedal down but still сапЧ shift
OUI af PARK (P), try this’
1. Turn tha key to LOCK.
2. Apply and hold fbe brahe until the end oF Step 4.
3- Shirt the vahicfe to NEUTRAL ÎIMJ.
4+ Start the vehicle and ¡hen shtft to the drive gear you
want.
5. Have the system fixed as Soon as you can.
CAUTION:
Shifting the Transfer case to neutral can
cause your vehicle to roll even it the manuisl
tranemjssian js in gesr. Vour or aomeone else
could be serioLLsly injured. Be sure to set the
parking brake before placing the transler case
In NEUTRAL. See Tarking Srake" In the Index.
Belore you get úul oí your vehicle, move the shifl lever
into REVERSE {R), and firmly apply the parking
brake. Once ihe shifl iever has been placed inio
REVERSE (R) with the dutch pedal pressed in, you can
turn Ihe Ignition key to LOCK, remove the key and
roFoase Iho dutch.
