Your front axle Is nol engaged
In two-wheeL drive.
' 1:^1' Ttihs setting engages your Tronl axle to help
drive yOur vehicle. Use iHI when you need extra
iraclion, such as on snowy or icy roads, or in most
off'Hoad situations.

(4LO):
This setting also engages your from axle to
give you extra traction. You may nover need 4LO. Jt
sends the maxiinum power to all four wheoEs- You might
choose 4|_0 if you were driving oft-road in sand, mud
or deep snow and climbing or descending sleep hills.
Indicator lights in the switches show you which
setting you are In. The indicator Hghls will come on
briefly when you turn on Ihe ignition and the last chosen
setting wilt stay on. If the fights do not come on^ you
should lake your vohicfs in for servtca. An indicator light
will flash whFie shifting,

will remain illominaied when
the shift is completed. If for &onne reason the transfer
cannot malre a requested shift, it will return to the
last chosen setting.
A CAUTION:
Shffting the transfer case to NEUTRAL can
cause your vehicle to roll even H tha
tranEmission is Ir PARK (P). You or someone
else Could be seriously Injured. Be sure lo sel
the parking brake before piecing the transfer
case irt NEUTRAL. See “Parking Brake' in Ihe
Index.
NEUTRALt Shilt the vehicle's transler case to
NEUTRAL only when towing your vehicle. See

Press ^nd ralaase lbs 4Ml switch. This cen bs dona at
any speedi and the Ironl axle will lock automaticatly
with some delay.
Shitting from 4HI to £HI
Press and release the 3HI switch. This tan be done at
any spaed, and the front

will unlock automaticatly
with some delay.
