Run a Test
Considerations for automatic background saves
When you start a test run, the application automatically saves the current state of the test. If you want to
modify a test without saving your changes, that is, experiment with the test, perform a Save As of your
test, modify as needed, and then run the new test.
If you inadvertently run a modified test and want to back out the changes you made to the test before you
ran it (and the application automatically saved it), you must do so manually.
Pretest activities
Before you can run a test, you must complete the following:
•
Pretest tasks
•
Test station setup
Test tasks
Perform the following tasks to run a test:
1. Apply hydraulic power to the test station:
a. If the Interlock indicator on the station control panel is active, click the Reset button to clear the
interlock.
Caution
:
Applying hydraulic power can result in sudden actuator motion.
A moving actuator can injure anyone in its path.
Always clear the actuator area before applying hydraulic power.
b. Click the Low button on the Power control panel.
•
This activity places the HPU (hydraulic power unit) in the high-pressure state (green indicator
lit) and the HSM (hydraulic service manifold) for the test station in the low-pressure state (amber
indicator lit).
c. Click the High button on the Power control panel.
•
This activity places the HSM for the test station in the high-pressure state (green indicator lit).
2. Click the New Test Run icon to create a new test run.
3. Click a specimen on the Select a Specimen window and click OK.
4. Enter or select any test parameters that the procedure requires in the Setup Variables window.
You may be required to enter or select test parameters at any point during the test run. Enter the
required parameters and click OK.
