Important:
Working with profiles requires using the Station Manager application. Only expert users that are
familiar with the Station Manager application should work with profiles. For assistance with creating
and modifying profiles, contact MTS Technical Support.
The Profile activity generates a command based on a profile file. A profile is a document that defines a
custom waveform using special formatting and syntax.
For detailed information on the Profile activity, including an example tutorial, see the MultiPurpose Elite
Test Design Guide.

Ramp Activity Overview

The Ramp activity commands the control signal from its current end-level state to a specified end level
within a specified amount of time.
The method used to obtain the end level is determined by the Control Mode, which can be specified in
terms of force, strain, or displacement. The End Level specifies the amount of force or strain to apply or
the distance to displace. The Duration specifies the amount of time that the ramp should take to achieve
its end level. The Ramp Shape specifies the signal shape, which governs the type of command rate within
the time duration. The command rate can be constant (as with a ramp shape) or variable (as with a sine
shape). At the end of the duration, the next activity in the procedure runs.
In the following example, the Ramp activity commands an actuator force from its current state of 0.000 N
to a force end level of 2.000 N. The command applies force as a linear ramp shape for three seconds
duration. At the end of the duration, the Cycle activity begins.
