Used in calculations to present appropriately signed
data (SE(B) polarity = -1).
Polarity
Shows the distance between the two supports on
the same side of the specimen.
Span (S)
Shows the test temperature.
Test Temperature
Shows the total thickness of the specimen.
Thickness (B)
The maximum tensile stress that a material can
sustain.
Ultimate Tensile
Strength
Specify the width of the specimen from the load
line.
Width (W)
Specify the stress value at which permanent
deformation occurs.
Yield Strength
Yield Strength is a specimen variable that other
variables may use in a calculation.

Specimen Geometry Overview
Access
Tools menu > Specimen Geometry Manager
Specimen geometry is the specimen type based on the physical shape. The geometry is associated with
the variables and rules that define the specimen type. The geometry is also associated with the functions
used in the calculations during the test.
To view information about a particular geometry, select the entry and click View or Edit. The Specimen
Geometry Editor provides detailed information. Additional information is available by clicking the Functions
and Variable Rules buttons.
