To specify the image as a variable graphic in the FusionPro designer

In order for FusionPro to create a low-resolution preview of a static image in the template, the

image must be invoked as a variable image. This is done by specifying the image as a variable graphic
box on the template and always using the same image as the variable graphic. This "variable" does not
have to be exposed to the customer in Digital StoreFront. By using the following rule in the FusionPro
designer the image is automatically returned and the customer sees no difference except the faster
display of the product preview since it is now streaming low-resolution data.

1.

Add your graphic as a resource and create a graphic rule that calls that resource:

return Resource("MyGraphic.tif");
where MyGraphic.tif represents the name of the graphic file you are using; make sure the name you
enter in the rule exactly matches the actual name of your graphic file.

2.

Attach that rule to the graphic box.

Low-resolution preview works with TIFF, JPG, BMP, and PNG files. Please consult the

FusionPro user documentation on applying rules for further clarification. This rule and low-
resolution preview are optional. If you and your customers are not experiencing issues with speed
of PDF preview from a FusionPro template, you can continue to build them as you have in the
past.

To suppress static PDF content

Check the box Suppress Static PDF Content to print only the buyer-specified dynamic content (i.e.,

the variable data).

This would be of use, for example, if you were printing the variable data for FusionPro

products on pre-printed documents (e.g., "shells").

To enable downsampling of FusionPro preview PDF files

Downsampling the preview will conserve bandwidth as FusionPro sometimes generates very large
production files that must be streamed during preview. If you do not enable downsampling, the full
production file size PDF file will display in preview (i.e., with the DPI settings configured in the .CFG file
associated with that product in the template directory).

Check the box Fusion Pro Low Resolution Enable box to downsample the image preview to 72 DPI

(which is adequate for viewing on screen but not for print production).

When this box is unchecked, the preview PDF file will be the same as the full production PDF

file.
