Scaling

Depending on the encoder, further bits are transmitted in
addition to the encoder value. Scaling serves to determine
how many bits postpositioned to the encoder value will be
removed by shifting the encoder value to the right. The
encoder value is scaled by the module only after a
gray−binary conversion. More information can be found in
the data sheet for your encoder.
