The MI 3040, which connects directly to a VM/SI 3000 serial port using MPK protocol, provides 40 electrically isolated out-
put connections for general purpose control of parallel machines and 40 electrically isolated input connections for return of
status information.
The unit uses solid−state relays that are suitable for low−voltage (<100 V), low−current (<300 milliamps) applications. Each
relay may be configured by slide switch for normally−open or normally−closed operation. The software is designed to actuate
the target relay for approximately 0.5 second before returning it to the normal position. For hardware details, please see page
2−123.
The 40 output connections can be used to control various numbers of machines and functions, depending on how the system
software is configured by the user. The three possible configurations are shown in Figure 2−115; the back−panel connections
for these configurations are shown in Figure 2−116.
