5.1 BIOS Considerations
5.1.1 Shared Memory Parameters
The Glue logic FPGA of the ATCA-8310 provides different interfaces for communication
between the SPP and GPP like Mailboxes, Semaphores and Shared Memory. The Shared
Memory will be used by the SPP to provide for the GPP with different parameters. The following
parameters will be recognized:
 btime booting start time
 shelf atca shelf id
 slot_p physical slot the board occupies in the shelf
 slot_l logical slot the board occupies in the shelf
 ea1 ethernet mac address 1
 ea2 ethernet mac address 2
 ea3 ethernet mac address 3
 clid dhcp client id
 btorder boot order
 bootwd boot watchdog
5.1.1.1 clid Parameter
The clid parameter's value shall be used to fill-in an UUID field of the SMBIOS record with DMI
Type 1 (System Information), which is used by PXE-Client of Network Interface's OPROMs in its
DHCP requests to PXE-Server providing support for network booting process.
