4.9.1.3.5 IPMI Reset

The onboard IPMC can reset the whole payload during a power-up sequence and under control
of system management software.

4.9.1.4

RTM Reset Behavior

The RTM behaves logically like an AMC module regarding Hot-Swap and Reset (In this context
called RTM-AMC). The IPMC on the ATCA-8310 is responsible to reset RTM. It initiates a reset
cycle after an RTM gets plugged in or if the payload power of the ATCA-8310 carrier board is in
a power cycle. The IPMC drives the ENABLE# signal active low as an input to the RTM-AMC
module.

Beside the IPMC reset an RTM module can be reset through Software via the PCI Express
interface protocol.

Beside the IPMC also the reset controller inside the Glue Logic FPGA can control RESET the
RTM. In case of hot-swap, the RTM will be reset by the IPMC. During normal operation the RTM
and the ATCA-8310 front board are treated as one reset domain. The reset request signal from
the RTM will be merged with the front board sources within the Glue Logic FPGA. The front
board payload and the RTM will be reset in parallel.
