Configure the max packet reception rate of a port. If the packet reception rate of the port violate the packet reception
rate, the port is shutdown. The restoration time after the port shutdown can be configured and the default time is
300s. The no command disables the rate-violation function.
The rate-violation means the port received all the packets rate (the number of the received packets per second). It
does not distinguish the packets type.
Parameters:
<200-2000000>: the max packet reception rate of the port, the unit is packets/s;
<0-86400>: the restoration time interval after the port shutdown, the unit is s;
recovery means this port can restore to be UP after some time, <0-86400> means the reception timeout of the port,
for example, when the packet reception rate of a port exceeds the restriction, the port will be shutdown. After the
timeout of user's configuration is past, the port will be up. The default timeout is 300s and 0 means it will never
restore.
Command Mode:
Interface Mode.
Default:
There is no controlling configuration for the rate-violation of the port as default.
Usage Guide:
This command is mainly used to detect the abnormal port flow. For example, when there are a large number of
broadcast packets caused by a loopback, which affect the processing of other tasks, the port will be shut down to
ensure the normal processing of the switch.
Example:
Set the rate-violation of port 1/8-10 (GB ports) as 10000pps and the port recovery time as 1200 seconds.
Switch(Config)#interface ethernet 1/8-10
Switch(Config-Port-Range)#rate-violation 10000 recovery 1200
