Local and remote access are available through an RS-232 or Ethernet/Telnet link to the Access Navigator
(see Figure 18-1). For convenience, the user may also send script files to speed up repetitive tasks (see Using
CLI Command Scripts
on

page 18-5

).

CLI over RS-232

The RS-232 interface supports a craft terminal or a computer with a terminal emulation program such
as Microsoft HyperTerminal®. Communications travel over a link to the Access Navigator’s RS-232
port.

Terminal emulation

Send mode: Echo characters locally

Minimum screen size: 24 lines by 80 characters without scrolling

Port settings

Baud rate: 9600

Data bits: 8

Parity: None

Stop bits: 1

Character delay: 0 ms (3 milliseconds if sending scripts)

Line delay: 0 ms (insert appropriate delays if sending scripts)
Note: For Adit 600 terminals, set line delay to 300 ms.
