IP DS0 Management Configuration
IP DS0 Management Configuration
IP DS0 management can be used with T1 Type 2 facilities lacking FDL capability. This scheme uses an
external colocated Ethernet/T1 router, such as an Adit 600 with Adit Router card installed. The router sends
IP management and provisioning commands over a DS0 management channel to the remote Adit 600. This
enables both the Network Operations Center and the Access Navigator to communicate with the remote Adit
600. The management DS0 also carries control messages for ISDN BRI and P-Phone applications.
The Access Navigator crossconnects the management DS0 in the groom DS1 to a drop DS1 going to the
remote Adit 600. The IP DS0 management channel must be carried by a DS1 connected to one of the two
T1 ports on the remote Adit 600 Controller card. The following figure shows a typical IP addressing scheme
for managing several remote Adits.
NOTE:
To provision IP DS0 management, it is necessary to configure the Access
Navigator, remote Adit 600, and colocated Adit Router. This manual includes Quick
Guides for all three products. For detailed information, refer to the Adit 600 User Manual
and Adit Router User Manual.
NOTE:
P-Phone support requires the following minimum software versions:
Access Navigator: release 1.8 or higher
Adit 600 Controller (colocated) : release 5.0 or higher
Adit 600 Controller (remote) :release 6.0 or higher
IP Router card: release 1.5 or higher
Terminal Server Router (TSR) card: release 1.0 or higher
Customer Media Gateway (CMG) Router card: release 1.1 or higher
