or different suite for use on-air. Animations, however, only play at the
correct speed when loaded to a single output regardless of suite (this is a
known problem that will be addressed in a future software version). Oper-
ators working simultaneously in both suites must coordinate their use of
animations to prevent playback problems.

Still Store Still Capture and Animation Record Operations

The Kalypso Still Store input can be acquired by either suite, but because
there is only one input only one suite can use this resource at a time. After
a suite captures the stills and animations needed there, the Still Store input
can be released for acquisition and use by the other suite.

During save and load operations, other Still Store disk activity is not sup-
ported. This means if an operator in one suite loads a large animation, the
operator in the other suite will not be able to save or load images until the
that animation load completes. Operators working simultaneously in both
suites must coordinate Still Store disk operations to prevent resource con-
flicts.

Still Store Cache Operations

For the Kalypso 15.0 software the entire Still Store cache is a shared
resource. Changes made to the cache affect Still Store operations in both
suites. For this reason, use care with the following actions.

Change Directory

— Changing the directory makes all items not currently

cached inaccessible to either suite. Both suites must use the same directory
during simultaneous operation. If you change the directory in preparation
for a different show, you should completely clear the cache and reload the
items needed for the new show. This removes potentially confusing cached
items and ensures the entire capacity of the cache is available for use.

Unlock All

— All items loaded to Still Store outputs in both suites are

unlocked with this command. Once unlocked, these items are subject to
being purged from the cache, even if on-air. Items are purged when new
item is loaded from either suite when the cache is filled. This means
unlocked items loaded to an output in one suite could be taken off-air from
a load operation performed in the other suite.

Unload All

— All unlocked items are deleted from the cache with this com-

mand. Once deleted, these items will no longer be available for instant use
in either suite. They will need to be reloaded before they can be used. Load
operations may take a considerable amount of time, especially if long ani-
mations are involved.
