Section 3 — System Operation

Automatic Subpanel Delegation

Some Kalypso system control surface subpanels are closely related to one
another. For example, when an operator adjusts a key in the Keyers sub-
panel, he also may wish to also adjust a color for that key in the Mattes sub-
panel. Or when a key is placed on air by a transition, source selection, or
E-MEM recall, the operator may need to quickly adjust some of those
keyer’s parameters. Having to delegate each subpanel manually before
making any changes can slow operational speed and increase the chance of
an on-air error.

When an operator activates a particular object of the Kalypso system, one
or more subpanels will automatically delegate to control the specific object
involved. For example, selecting a key for the next transition on an M/E
automatically delegates the Keyers subpanel to control that keyer in that
M/E. Likewise, when the delegation of a subpanel changes (manually or
through automatic delegation), related subpanels are also delegated auto-
matically. For example, selecting a key for the next transition that has a
matte fill active will automatically delegate the Mattes subpanel to control
that keyers active matte. The operator can then make changes immediately
and reliably, without fear of accidentally affecting another key that is on-air.

Automatic delegations available are listed in

Table 2

:

Automatic delegation only occurs when the operator presses a button on
the panel, and does not occur if the panel’s state is changed by an external
interface, like an edit controller.

Automatic delegations can be quickly disabled at any time on the Keyers
and Mattes subpanels by turning off the

Auto Deleg

button.

M/E Keyer Manual Delegation Buttons

The M/E Keyer delegations buttons can be used to delegate the
Keyers/Masks subpanel, Mattes subpanel, and/or the Transform subpanel
to control an individual keyer of that M/E. This is an extremely powerful
