Serial Port Management
This chapter describes serial port features and management support in WeOS,
thus only apply to WeOS products equipped with serial port(s). WeOS products
can be equipped with three types of serial ports:
❼ RS-232 serial port: Serial ports that support RS-232.
❼ ”Combo” RS-232/422/485 serial ports: Serial ports capable of using RS-232,
RS-422 and RS-485 as serial protocol. The user can select the type of serial
protocol to run.
❼ ”Combo” RS-422/485 serial ports: Serial ports capable of using RS-422 and
RS-485 as serial protocol. The user can select the type of serial protocol to
run.

❼ Serial extender: The WeOS units with serial ports can be used to extend a
serial connection over a TCP/IP network.
