Slot based numbering
RedFox Industrial[
] and some Wolverine products (DDW-225[
] and DDW-
]) use a slotted architecture, and ports are named according to the slot ID
and the port’s position within that slot. For example, port 1/2 would denote the
second port in the first slot.
This name convention is used irrespective of port type, e.g., DDW-226 (Wolverine)
has two SHDSL ports (1/1-1/2), 4 Ethernet ports (2/1-2/4), and one Serial port
(1/1). Details on the name convention and the slotted architecture is described
further below, using RedFox Industrial as example.

card (middle slot), and an 8-port 10/100BaseTX card (right slot).
The RedFox Industrial switches come in a two-slot and a three-slot version.
