Still Store File Renaming
Still Store files can be renamed in the File Operations menu, though this is
not recommended. If you decide to change file names, the following rules
must be followed:
• The image, metadata, and thumbnail bitmap files must retain the same
base file name.
• Only one set of files with the same base file name should appear in any
directory.
• The base file name format must not be altered (Ixxxxxxx.gvi or
Ixxxxxxx.gva). The only change allowed is to edit the number to make
the files unique. Valid numeric values are 0000001 through 002000.
• If a thumbnail file is lost or incorrectly named, it will be re-created the
next time the still store directory changes.
File Operations Folder Copy
You can copy an existing folder that contains Still Store images to another
drive. If you use a folder management technique that limits the number of
Still Store items in any one folder, the copy can be performed relatively
quickly. However, if you have filled the DEFAULT directory with hun-
dreds of stills, the copy process may take considerable time. During the
transfer process the Zodiak menu cannot be used. You will also need to
ensure there is enough space on the destination drive to receive the files. A
completely full DEFAULT directory of 2000 stills will not fit onto a single
Zip disk, for example.
If you know you will be transferring Still Store items at the time they are
captured or recorded, you can create a new folder and save the items to it.
Then you will be able to transfer only these items by copying the folder.
To Copy a Folder of Still Store Items with the File Operations Menu:
Follow the steps described above, but at Step 4 instead of opening the
folder and selecting a pair of files, select the folder itself, then complete the
procedure.
Still Store Loader
The Still Store Loader utility program can be used to transfer image files
between a PC and the Still Store. Only full raster images can be transferred,
and video and key pair images need to be transferred individually. The
Still Store Loader program does not pass crop or position metadata, and
does not support fenced images or animation clips. This program is
included on the Zodiak Software CD, and can be installed onto any PC,
including the Zodiak Menu panel.
