Section 3 — Control Surface Description

Key Invert Button

The

Key Invert

button reverses the polarity of the key control signal. When

Key Invert

is active (button lit) black areas of the key cut signal cause replace-

ment of the background, and the white key cut areas cause the background
to be retained.

Key Prior Button

The

Key Prior

button allows the user to set a different priority of the four

keyers in the M/E. To set key priority, hold down the

Key Prior

button and

press the

Key 1 – 4

buttons in the keying order desired, from top to bottom

priority. This will set the priority stack. Double pressing this button will
bring up the Keyer Priority menu

(see

Keyer Priority Menu

on page 339)

where key priority can also be set. After key priority has been set in either
manner, select the

Key Priority

button in the Transition subpanel to use this

priority selection as part of the next key transition.

Show Key Button

The

Show Key

button is used for viewing the key control signal. This button

does not affect the output of the M/E. Holding down this button displays
the black and white key control signal of the currently delegated keyer on
that M/E’s preview output. The results of any clipping and masking will
be shown.

Mask Delegation Buttons

Masks help clean up keys by defining picture areas that are prevented from
keying (inhibit mask) or are forced to key (force mask). Separate inhibit
and force masks may be set up for each keyer. Masks can be created by
pattern generators, or can be based on a video source that has been clip and
gain adjusted to create the mask control signal. Masks cannot be applied to
preset patterns.

The

Inhibit Mask

and

Force Mask

buttons delegate the keyer to control one of

these two mask types. Changes to the masking controls affect only the
selected mask type of the keyer delegated in the Keyers subpanel. A high
button tally indicates which mask is being controlled. If the other mask is
also active, its delegation button will low tally. Masking parameters are
controlled in the Keyer Mask Menu. Refer to Keyer Mask Menu

on page 340

.

Effects Loop Control Button Group

The

Int DPM

(internal DPM) buttons controls how key and video signals are

routed to the keyer’s Transform Engine internal effects send and return
loop.

The

Ext DPM

(external DPM) button is inactive.
