File Operations

Introduction

Zodiak system files are saved to the location that has been navigated to with
the browser, creating copies of the information currently in use by the
Zodiak system. Files are copied from one location to another without
affecting the current operation of the Zodiak system. File information is
loaded to Zodiak system RAM, and this immediately affects the operation
and capabilities of the Zodiak system.

File operations are available from several menus (File Ops All Files, File
Ops Show, Daily Setups, Eng Setups, Macro, E-MEM, R-MEM). The same
basic operating procedures are used at each location.

File Type Icons and Extensions

Files are represented by icons. The file type is included in the icon dis-
played on all File Operations menus (

).

Zodiak files are named by the user when saved, and this name appears
below the icon. The extension is added to the file automatically when
saved, but is not displayed as part of the file name itself. Do not try to add
an extension to the file name when saving files (the dot and other illegal
characters are not allowed in Zodiak file names).

Zodiak Drive Access

The Zodiak File Operation menus can access only the Frame:C:\User\
folder of the Video Processor frame hard drive, and only the C:\Zodiak
User\ folder on the Menu Display Processor hard drive (in the Menu Dis-
play). Local and network drives mapped on the Menu processor network
system are also accessible (including Zip). Standard Windows function-
