Disabling device control temporarily can be useful. For example, during a
rehearsal you may not want to cue or roll VTRs. With the External Device
Enables menu you can control which devices will respond without having
to rebuild effects or change engineering configuration.
Enables Device Pane
The Device pane on the Enables menu is a list of all the DDRs and VTRs
available on the Zodiak system (
). Only currently configured
devices are displayed. Refer to External Interfaces – Appendix C in the sepa-
rate Zodiak Installation and Service Manual for how to configure an external
device. Currently, only four serial devices can be controlled at once corre-
sponding to the four available serial ports (Serial 1 – Serial 4) on the rear of
the Video Processor frame.
Touching the button for a device toggles the device between an enabled or
disabled state. When enabled, E-MEM and Control menu commands will
be sent to the device during effect runs. When disabled, the commands are
not issued to that device.
The
Enable All
and
Disable All
touch buttons can also be used to enable or
disable all the devices on the list.
