Touching the
Crop
data pad brings up a similar menu with
Top Crop
,
Bottom Crop
,
Left Crop
, and
Right Crop
controls (
). The image can be
cropped to any rectangular shape. These controls are keyframeable (see
), but resolution is limited to pixels and lines so interpolated
motion may not appear smooth. For smooth motion use a Transform
Engine.

The
Production Aperture
button sets crops slightly wider than Clean Aperture,
to meet the SMPTE recommended practice. This permits passing the
maximum amount of image data down the signal chain, which can help
hide edge artifacts during subsequent image processing.
The
Clean Aperture
button crops the image to exactly match the aspect ratio,
to meet the SMPTE recommended practice. Crop values are set to 3.0, -3.0,
-4.0, 4.0 with this button.
