Section 3 — Control Surface Description

Note

Linear Key mode produces a proper key if the source has been set up and
defined properly. If not setup properly, you can compensate by selecting
Adjustable Linear mode.

Adjustable Linear Key

An adjustable Linear Key can be selected by pressing the

Lin Key

and

Lum

Key

buttons simultaneously. The

Gain/Clip Hi

and

Clip/Clip Lo

knobs provide a

limited range of control of Clip Hi and Clip Lo.

Luminance Key

The

Lum

button selects a Luminance key. The

Gain/Clip Hi

and

Clip/Clip Lo

knobs provide a full range control of clip and gain.

Chroma Key

The

Chroma Key

button selects a Chroma Key. The

Gain/Clip Hi

and

Clip/Clip Lo

knobs provide control of Clip Hi and Clip Lo. Additional menu controls
are available via DPOP.

Preset Pattern

The

Pst Ptn

button selects Preset Pattern, which cuts the hole in the back-

ground using an internal wipe pattern generator (or Utility Bus video),
rather than a source’s key cut signal.

Wipe pattern selection and other preset pattern adjustment such as soft-
ness of the preset pattern edge and size of the preset pattern shape can be
adjusted in the Wipe menu

(see

Preset Pattern on page 338

)

.

The

Joystick

in

the Joystick subpanel, when properly delegated, controls the location of the
preset pattern on the screen.

Note

The Preset Pattern and Masking features share common keyer hardware.
When a Preset Pattern is being used by a keyer, masking will be disabled for
that keyer.

Separate key memory settings are retained for each key type (Linear, Lumi-
nance, Chroma key, and Preset Pattern). Note that the state of the

Video Key

button that determines what signal is used for key cut (see below) is
included as part of each of these source memory settings. With source
memory on, selecting a key type automatically selects the correct key cut
signal.

Key Source Button Group

The two buttons in the Keyers subpanel determine the source of the key cut
and key fill for each key as explained below.
