10. Move the lever arm or press the Auto Tran button to perform the
transition and see the white flash effect.
Note that the point in the transition at which the initial video mixes to
the intermediate video is set with the Initial Mix Ends At data pad on
the right of the M/E menu (
Figure 288 on page 413 ). The point in the
transition at which the intermediate video changes to the final video is
set with the Final Mix Starts At control.
The transition values shown in Figure 288 are set for a gradual mix up
to and down from the intermediate video as shown in the Mix Profile
pane provided. Use this visual tool along with the initial and final mix
controls to set the rate of mix between the initial (magenta trace), inter-
mediate (white trace) and final video (cyan trace) for the desired effect.
The orange trace is a cursor that indicates the progress of the transition.
It will reset to 0% at the end of a transition.
For an effect more closely resembling a camera flash, change the Initial
Mix Ends At to a lower number to sharpen the slope of the mix from
the initial to the intermediate video as shown in
Figure 291 . You can
