Drawing Free-Form Shapes
Free-form shapes are any shapes that cannot be drawn with the Rectangle
or Ellipse tools. In other words, any shape that is not a rectangle, square,
ellipse or circle is a free-form shape drawn with the
Draw Path
tool.
A free form shape is created by drawing a closed region that is defined by
several paths.

prised of multiple lines, curves, and vertices.
When drawing free-form shapes, the following definitions are useful:
Vertex
A point on a path at the beginning and end of a shape segment. A new
vertex may be added along a path. This will create a new segment.
Body
The portion of a shape between two vertices.
