Shape Mask Filter
Create a Mask Shape
To create a mask shape, use the following tools on the tool bar to draw the
desired shape:

Draw Rectangle
button. Use this tool to draw rectangle and square
mask shapes.

Draw Ellipse
button. Use this tool to draw ellipse and circle mask
shapes.
Shortcut key: [

To create a mask shape using the
Rectangle
and
Ellipse
buttons, click on the
desired button and drag the mouse cursor in the Preview window to create
a shape of the desired size.

Note
To create a perfectly square shape, hold down the [SHIFT] key while dragging
the cursor after selecting the Draw Rectangle tool.
Note
To create a perfectly circular shape, hold down the [SHIFT] key while drag-
ging the cursor after selecting the Draw Ellipse tool.

button. Use this tool to draw free-form mask shapes com-
prised of multiple lines, curves, and vertices. For more information on
drawing and manipulating free-form mask shapes, see Drawing Free-Form

Mask Parameters
Inside, Outside, Edge and Shape parameters may be adjusted for the mask
shape selected in the preview window.
Inside/Outside
Filters may be applied to the area of the clip inside or outside of the defined
mask shape. Filters may be applied to:
•
only the area inside the mask
•
only the area outside the mask
•
both the area inside the mask and the area outside the mask.
Note
If applying filters to both the area inside the mask and the area outside the
mask, separate filters may be applied to each area.
