Section 5 — Timeline Operations

Ripple mode is toggled on and off by the

Set Ripple Mode

button (highlighted

in blue in

Figure 299

) above the Timeline track headers.

Figure 299. Set Ripple Mode Button

Each click of the button switches modes.

= Ripple Mode On

= Ripple Mode Off

Pressing the [

R

] key on the keyboard also toggles the Ripple mode.

Track Ripple Sync

Track ripple sync may be set for individual tracks or all tracks. When track
ripple sync is enabled, editing one track (inserting, deleting or moving
clips, for example) affects all other tracks for which ripple sync is also
enabled if insert mode is active. All tracks are kept in sync; that is, they
maintain their prior positions relative to one another from the insertion
point on. See

Figure 300

for an example with track ripple sync mode

enabled on all tracks. Default = Enabled for all tracks.

Figure 300. With Insert Enabled

Ripple sync is toggled on and off for all tracks or on a track-by-track basis.

As illustrated in

Figure 301

, ripple sync controls are associated with each

track on the Timeline and there is also a master toggle button that sets the
ripple sync mode for all tracks simultaneously.
